Yorkshire beaches among Britain's best July 3, 2022

Whitby west beach Redcar Coatham beachThe peaceful but difficult to access Cornelian BayThree Yorkshire beaches were named among the 50 best beaches in Britain of 2022 by The Sunday Times.

The newspaper picked eight beaches from the whole of the North of England as part of the 50 revealed on Sunday July 3.

The three in Yorkshire are the west beach at Whitby ; Cornelian Bay a little-discovered hidden gem rocky bay between Scarborough and Cayton Bay; and the Redcar Coatham beach.

Britain's Beach of the Year 2022 was a little further north this year at Sandhaven, South Shields in South Tyneside.

In 2020, Runswick Bay in North Yorkshire was named Britain's Best Beach 2020 by The Sunday Times.
